Literature Text

" We are powerless. "
said 7.000.000.000 people.
" Anyway, we can do nothing. "

I just hate this sentence. Really.

It's so easy, so weak, so coward, to say a such thing.

If all the people I've met who said that were able to unite, they will be able to do something, there is no doubt about that.

But it's easier to buy ourselves a pitiful pretense. An empty conscience.

Until when ?

:bulletgreen: What do you think about the fact that I mentionned ?

:bulletgreen: Do you think that it's rude ?

:bulletgreen: Do you think that the choice of the title is good ?

Thank you !

If I may suggest "learned helplessness" as a title? I think the irony is more implied than explicit, so...

I don't think it's rude. But like all philosophical statements (and I mean this in general, not in direct reference to what you've said here), there's so much scope for hypocrisy. I know that it frustrates me when people say they can't do anything about something, but at the same time, I know there are situations when I've said similar things myself. I also think one person standing up alone, unseen and unsupported to something enormous is rather useless. I mean, it's morally great of them to do so, but unless I know I'm going to make a palpable difference in at least one person's life by what I do, I'm not going to take that stand, especially if it means throwing away my life. I know someone who decided to take a stand against the fashion industry and society's insistence on thinness by starving herself--she wanted people to see how wrong it was. Problem was, no one really understood what she was getting at and thought she was crazy. Didn't change a thing--all it did was mess with her health, both physical and mental.

Just giving you my views on the matter, not so much critiquing your piece :D :twocents:
